There’s an element of craftsmanship that goes into cutting your cigar and preparing it for a smoking session, especially, hand-made premium cigars which are always typically cut before they are smoked. Fortunately, if you follow a few simple rules, you’ll be ready to enjoy in no time.

The optimal place on the cigar to cut it depends on the cigar itself. Take a close look at the head of the cigar and figure out how far the cap extends down along the body. For a typical parejo, this will usually be between 1/4 and 3/8th’s of an inch. Wherever the cap ends, that will

be the absolute farthest along the barrel of the cigar that you will want to cut. The best possible cut will be above the limit of the cap.

Check the cigar and how tight it is rolled to determine the optimal amount of draw you desire. Generally, the tighter the roll, the more you will cut.

Make sure you’re cutting across your cigar in a straight line with a steady hand. Once you've achieved your desired draw, you are ready to light!

Inconspicuously, warm the foot of the cigar with a strong flame, but careful not to burn, yet. Then, take a few draws, check that the entire foot is lit, blow on it if you like (to ensure an even light), and you are ready to enjoy. We recommend between 30 seconds and one minute between draws, so that it does not become too hot (which, may ruin the flavor, and your experience). Keep it cool:)
